Who is the winner of Season 1 of 'American Barbecue Showdown'?

After eight days of intense competition, and duties that incorporated cooking for 50 firefighters; opting for between iguana, racoon, and hare meat; and creating signature sandwiches, most effective two cooks remained: Tina Cannon and Rasheed Phillips.

From the beginning, Tina used to be a fan favorite. She had no qualms about telling the hosts and judges that the cut-off date did not really paintings for her, and he or she had hilarious remark about what she used to be bringing to the pageant.

"The fun thing about being a Southern belle [is] sometimes you can get by with stuff. Like, when I cook in contests, I wear pearls. I look like a little girl," she said. "They don't think anything about me, but I sneak up on you and you don't even know it."

Tina in the end got into the swing of the competition, though she used to be admittedly some distance at the back of the different contestants during the first challenge. The Southern belle and her pearls made it through to the end.

Rasheed, on the other hand, was an immediate frontrunner.

"Some of my favorite memories are tied to food," the Jamaica local explained on the show, earlier than adding that his first cookbook was from Julia Child.

"I'm not a chef. I'm not a pitmaster. Those are titles you have to earn," Rasheed stated. "I am a guy who just manages not to burn the food."

For the finale, Rasheed and Tina had the difficult activity of cooking a whole hog. Neither of the finalists had ever cooked a complete pig earlier than, which made the challenge all the more difficult. They also had to cook dinner brisket, four sides, two sauces, and a dessert. 

Tina decided on to make candy and cowboy espresso sauces, hoecakes, pinto beans, Mac & cheese, creamed corn, and peach cobbler along with the meats. 

Rasheed's brisket and hog were accompanied by beef abdominal smoked Mac & cheese, cheese cornbread, beef and beans, red mashed potatoes, mustard and hot sauces, and an apple cobbler. 

The particular person who secured the name of America's Barbecue Champion was once Tina.

"I came here to prove that women can barbecue, just like the guys. They can compete, just like the guys," Tina said after profitable. 

Rasheed was a gracious loser, and he stated coming in second to Tina was once "an honor" because she had far more experience than he did. 

Will 'American Barbecue Showdown' return for Season 2?

Netflix has but to formally renew or cancel the series. American Barbecue Showdown was once launched on Sept. 18, so enthusiasts can be expecting to attend a while prior to a definitive choice is made. Until then, the mouth-watering picks featured on Season 1 must suffice.
