Who is Sam Obisanya’s dad in ‘Ted Lasso’? Ola Obisanya makes his first appearance in ‘Ted Lasso’ Season 3, Episode 7 as a guiding voice for Sam.

As Ted Lasso heads into its ultimate stretch, Season 3 is getting better and better. The earlier episode introduced the team to Amsterdam to live out their wildest adventures, however Episode 7, titled “The Strings That Bind Us,” takes us a bit of too close to home. Sam Obisanya (Toheeb Jimoh) faces Britain’s xenophobic politics head-on with devastating effects.

Luckily, Sam’s dad, Ola Obisanya (Nonso Anozie), visits Sam and spreads some knowledge and humor. He’s not just large at the display, but he’s a larger-than-life character who is obviously an inspiration to Sam. And bearing in mind how natural Sam is, we all know he should have a lovely nice dad. So who is Sam’s dad in Ted Lasso, and where have we noticed Nonso earlier than?

Sam Obisanya’s dad, Ola Obisanya, pays Sam a consult with in Season 3, Episode 7.

At the beginning of the episode, Sam and his restaurant team of workers at Ola’s are disheartened and angered through the fictional U.Okay. Home Secretary, Brinda Barot, turning away boats of Nigerian refugees from English shores. Sam’s buddy (and attainable love pastime?) Simi (Precious Mustapha) is irate, but Sam needs to provide a type solution first. He tweets a message about hoping for better from the U.Okay.’s leaders and tags Brinda.

Brinda, then again, responds with vitriol. “Footballers will have to go away the politics to us and simply shut up and dribble. You will have to concern less concerning the safety of our country and concern more about being a mediocre player on a mediocre workforce.” When Sam claps again, “I’d slightly be a mediocre footballer than a world-class bigot,” he unearths Ola’s destroyed and vandalized. “Shut up and dribble” is even spray-painted on his wall.

This comes just ahead of Sam’s father’s seek advice from, to who Sam used to be so excited to show off his restaurant. But luckily, Sam’s dad comes at just the suitable time. As Sam storms into the AFC Richmond locker room, his dad shows up with open hands. Sam hugs his father, they usually talk about how Sam can move ahead.

“Follow your heart, Samuel. Angry will most effective weaken you,” Sam’s dad wisely says. “If you really wish to piss off the folks who did this, forgive them … Don’t struggle again. Fight ahead.” His words of recommendation follow to Sam’s war of words with the U.Okay.’s politics, Sam’s restaurant, and even the soccer workforce.

Sam eventually brings his father to his restaurant, and after they arrive, all the AFC Richmond group is sweetly striking the eating place again in combination. Bumbercatch lighting fixtures up the eating place’s name, Ola’s, as Sam’s father introduces himself to Simi as Ola. This isn’t only a Nigerian eating place; this is Sam’s circle of relatives’s legacy. Ola, Sam, and Simi then cook dinner a meal for the staff, tying in Ted Lasso’s father-son theme.

Ola Obisanya is played by means of ‘Game of Thrones’ actor Nonso Anozie.

Some people might recognize Sam’s dad, which makes sense. Nonso Anozie has been acting in more than a few film and tv projects since 2006. His maximum recognizable roles come with Tommy in Sweet Tooth, the Captain in Cinderella, Domovoi Butler in Artemis Fowl, and of course, King Xaro Xhoan Daxos in five episodes of Game of Thrones.
