That Awkward Moment with Tori in 'Big Little Lies' Could Mean Major Drama For Madeline and Ed

HBO's 'Big Little Lies' premiered and there was once one awkward moment that stuck us off guard: When Tori runs into Ed. What does it mean? Here's what we think.

Update (7/7/2019): Well, we now know that Tori is no doubt up to something in Big Little Lies. In tonight's episode, "Kill Me," we see Tori snuggle up to Ed (you understand, Madeline's husband) at a bar, and order shots for them each. Meanwhile, her husband (the theater trainer Madeline slept with) Joseph is actually sitting there staring at. And now not in a "I caught you!" method, but like, "Hey there, how ya doin'?" kind of way. Are they going to have a threesome? A foursome? A wife-swap? Are they interrogating Ed about Madeline? This is so weird! But optimistically this awkward scenario gets resolved in subsequent week's episode.

HBO's Big Little Lies Season 2 premiered on Sunday, and whilst we want to discuss ALL the issues (Meryl Streep screaming! Maddie passive aggressively pounding down like three pink velvet cupcakes! Renata's photoshoot!) there's one thing that's on our thoughts in explicit: Tori. You know, the lady who Ed (Madeline's husband) ran into on the grocery retailer. She point-blank told him she had just gotten her breasts done and then defined to him that it was to distract other folks from her nose. It used to be very uncomfortable! But this all indubitably method something. Let's dive deeper: Who is Tori (performed by way of Sarah Sokolovic), and what does she need? 

Let's return to Season 1: We know that Tori is Joseph's husband

Joseph, when you consider, is the person Maddie is having an affair with. They each work at the town's theater, and it is been an ongoing factor. Both Ed and Tori most certainly know *one thing* is up, particularly with Maddie and Joseph entering that car coincidence together in Season 1, Episode 5, and ending up in the sanatorium. Very suspicious. 

In the following episode, "Burning Love," Maddie and Tori run into each and every different after the play. Tori charges as much as Maddie and asks, "Is it you? Are you the woman Joseph is in love with?" Maddie acts like she does not know what Tori is talking about. "I know he had an affair a year ago. I know when he lies." She added, "He also told me he was over her...Which, I can tell when he lies. Was it you?" After explaining to Tori that she is luckily married, Tori requested Maddie, "What were you doing in his car?" referring to the clinic incident. So Tori pretty much knows Maddie is her husband's lover. Ooof. 

While things are awkward between Maddie, Ed, and Joseph, the affair turns out to have been set aside for now, and if Ed is aware of something, possibly he's in denial. Who knows! Ed is too pure for this global! 

So why was Tori being so bizarre with Ed at the grocery retailer?

During the Season 2 premiere, Ed runs into Tori at the grocery retailer. Tori, who's dressed in a low-cut blouse, issues out her new breasts to Ed (who, by way of the way, assists in keeping having a look immediately at her face, as a result of he is a gentleman). As if she's playing a game, Tori tells Ed that she best got new breasts so that other people wouldn't realize her nostril, striking Ed in an much more awkward position, since he is been observing her face all the time! And then Tori tells him that as a result of everybody notices her breasts, Joseph will get pissed off about this. Interesting that Tori introduced Joseph into the conversation, there. 

Obviously, there is something right here. Either Tori is messing with Ed for the fun of it. Maybe she's trying to arrange some roughly platonic relationship so that the 2 of them can team up and work out what is going on between their spouses. Or...possibly she's flirting with Ed and is looking for revenge on her husband dishonest on her. 

This is Big Little Lies, so a scene like this is obviously essential and foreshadows one thing much larger (and in all probability explosive) to come back. We have a sense Tori will likely be coming again...and it would possibly not be pretty.

Sarah has had small portions in CBS's Unforgettable and The Good Wife. She used to be additionally in Homeland playing an American journalist.
