In Season 3, the Umbrella Academy faces off against two main crises. One is the super-powered family of the Sparrow Academy who've necessarily replaced them in lifestyles. The other is the kugelblitz. Spawned from a time paradox, this cataclysmic cosmic event sends out waves of demise that vaporize things indiscriminately. Every time any other "kugel wave" comes out, it sucks up anything else from constructions to folks to a whole herd of cows with out skipping a beat.
Considering it is something that kills no matter how some distance or shut you might be to it, it is simple to start out being concerned about who or what the kugelblitz could collapse subsequent. No one's protection is guaranteed — particularly that of the main forged.
"There's nothing more exciting than a show that's willing to kill off their leads," David Castañeda tells Distractify. He calls back to the good fortune of Game of Thrones and its penchant for abruptly killing main cast participants.

Killing off major characters is not exactly not unusual follow, which means that you would no doubt realize if it took place. Luckily for Diego enthusiasts, there may be little reason why to fret. Diego manages to live on the kugelblitz and lives to struggle another day.
Interestingly enough, David wasn't all too nervous about his character's safety whilst reading the script. In truth, he even welcomed the development.
"If [he did die], I very much welcome it," David remarks. "I never did feel, if I'm honest, [worried about] 'oh, what's going to happen to Diego' ... because I'm so OK with that."
He goes on to discuss how Diego might die in the longer term. "Knowing [showrunner] Steve Blackman, he would probably have me die from like, a needle pin infection or like, a very uneventful way."
Diego and Lila
Just because Diego does not die does not imply that he doesn't undergo the rest permanent in the display. When facing off towards the guardians of Hotel Oblivion in Season 3 Episode 6, Diego will get two of his hands sliced off in the combat. That's a pretty big deal for any individual who fights almost solely with throwing knives.
According to David, showrunner Steve Blackman handled this event with as a lot gravitas and aplomb as a real persona death.
"He was so excited at the fact that Diego loses two fingers," David remembers. "[Like] it's the funniest thing since sliced bread. The way he said it was with very childlike excitement. And I'm thinking like, 'it's just two fingers, why is that a big thing?' But when I saw it, I thought it was really funny."
Given the cosmic and absurdist nature of The Umbrella Academy, dying and losing arms is not all that gigantic a deal in the grand scheme of items. In Season 3, Episode 10, all the universe will get reset by Sir Reginald Hargreeves (Colm Feore) with assistance from Allison (Emmy Raver-Lampman). For all intents and functions, everyone gets a cheerful finishing.
Lila and Diego reaffirm their courting.
Diego's arms are restored. Five (Aiden Gallagher) — who misplaced an arm — will get it again. Luther (Tom Hooper) is brought again to lifestyles in an ordinary human frame after being killed by means of Reginald. Even before the reset, Klaus (Robert Sheehan) realized find out how to come again from the useless at will, making him nearly resistant to death.
But having misplaced their powers in the reset, they appear to lead very other lives than they once did. For Diego, David needs him to totally settle for parenthood alongside Lila (Ritu Arya).
"Because of the journey he's on at the moment with Lila, I find that so much more interesting," David mentioned.
